Virtual sensors are tool that allows you to predict specific values.
Industrial installations are highly automated. Based on their experience and sensor indications, chemical process technologists and engineers control processes . Virtual sensors were created to support their work related to process control.
Virtual sensors are mainly used in two ways:
for predicting the value that is not measured at a given point of the installation (e.g. due to the inability to mount the sensor)
for predicting optimal set values to achieve the intended effects (e.g. obtaining a larger amount of a given product during refining of crude oil)
However, virtual sensors are a powerful tool that can also be used, for example, to predict the consumption of catalytic deposits.
